Welcome Our January Guest Designer

Good morning Friends and Happy New Years Eve!

We hope that you have all enjoyed your Christmas time off and look forward to ringing in the New Year with family and friends.  As we say goodbye to 2012 I would like to take this time to say Thank you to our wonderful Guest Designer Melissa Oeters for making December a month to remember.  Mahalo Melissa, your creations were all super creative and inspiring.  I really appreciate you stepping in for us in December and honey you rocked it!!  Thank you again!!

The DT will still be taking time off in January but will be back in February refreshed and ready to bring you more Yumi and Fumi inspirations.  To help us with January I asked someone who I have admired for quite some time, since my TGF days actually.  I was really excited that she said yes and am really glad she's helping us with January.  We are very excited to welcome our January Guest Designer, Denice Bartucci

Here is a little bit more about Denice in her own words:

"I'm a midwestern gal who finds a lot of the inspiration for my projects come from my family, which consists of "Papa Bear" and our 4 fab kiddos....they are my never-ending source of support and my biggest/bestest critics.  I've been stamping and scrapbooking for almost 15 years and am passionate about both crafts. I could talk endlessly about all the latest embellies and techniques, and find the internet to be an endless source of new projects to try. I'm looking forward to spending a fun and creative month with Y&FH!"
I asked Denice to take our survey and her answers were pretty unique.  Needless to say, I think she fits right in with the rest of us. {hehe}

Happy Wednesday!

Whew, what a long fun filled holiday weekend, but now it's back to business!  Today is my last day as Guest Designer for Yumi & Fumi and I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Leanne and the girls for asking me to join them during December.  I had a blast!!!!!

I wanted to stay as far away from holiday colors as possible so I choose brown tones.  The Copic Markers I used are:  E000, E00, E11, E13, E18, E49, E79, E37, E35, E34, E47, plus Spica gold and black.  I used Winter Yumi, who I think is adorable, plus I kept it simple.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year! I hope you soar through 2013 with good health, and happiness!

Happy Wednesday!

Hi Everyone!

I've decided to put away my holiday stamps (only 6 more days) and start thinking about thank you notes and other generic cards. I have two creations to share with you today.

My first features the two cute stamps Winter Fumi and Fumi.  I decided to make the window scene so Winter Fumi would look like she was outside. I kept it simple so you really focus on the stamp images.  I think the idea worked with one inside and one outside.

Copic Markers used for Winter Fumi are E000, E00, E11, R20, Y19, Y11, Y26, BV04, BV09, B21, B23, N1, T5.

Copic Markers used for Fumi are E000, E00, E11, E13, RV66, YR16, YR15, YR18, E37, E39, E35, E57

I also have a winter themed card to share today featuring Sister Stamps image Shimo-san. This stamp can be used throughout the winter for cards such as thinking about you, thank you, we miss you.... you get the idea.  Since it's a scene you don't need to do much but give it a little color and send it off.  I used a generic message on mine that says something we can all do - count the happies!

Happy Holidays and Happy Crafting,
MelissaO

Gotta thank the guys!

Happy Wednesday!!  Today I'm sharing my guy cards.  I realized the other day that I'm always making cards for my girl friends but rarely make them for my guy friends.  So I decided to change that.

Guys do coffee too, so I created a coffee cup and used Chase, isn't he a handsome guy.  He is colored with Copic Markers E000, E11, E00, E13, B41, B45, B99, YG41, YG45, W8, T3.  Also I used a sentiment stamp from K. Andrew Designs. Other materials are from my huge stash of 'stuff''!

I couldn't resist using Winter Chuckles again, he's perfect for a happy card for your guy friend this winter.  I also had my own little chuckle when I realized that I had the stamps to create the sentiment.  He was colored with Copic Markers  E00, E11, E13, E50, E35, E37, E34, B99, B97, B95, Y15, Y19, YR14. Once again the sentiment stamps are from K. Andrew Designs and the other goodies from my stash.

Happy Crafting!

Mariko, Wishing you...

...a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hello everyone!

Happy Aloha Friday!

I'm popping in to share a card using one of our current December challenge themes as well as a qualifying non-Y&FH image.

We realize that not everyone has a Y&FH stamp now but still would like to play in our challenges.  We encourage those of you who don't to still come and join our challenges as long as you follow the guidelines we set forth.  We have a great number of non-Y&FH stamp companies listed that you can choose from and if you don't please consider purchasing a stamp or two from our shop.  A reminder, we have free shipping within the US for qualifying orders of $35 or over for all of December.
They make perfect stocking stuffers!
Ultimately we would love to see creations with our images alone.  Please check the Challenge info page for all qualifying non-Y&FH stamps before linking up your project.  If it is does not qualify unfortunately it will not be considered for the prize or our top 3.

For my card I chose the red, camel and white color combo and used them with one of our qualifying non-Y&FH stamps, Sister Stamps Mariko.  {She is currently out of stock but keep checking back or pick up some Y&FH stamps.}

For all the details on my card you can pop over to my blog.

You have all month to play in our December challenge and you can choose from two themes or combine both.  A super awesome prize is awaiting one lucky crafter and 3 will be chosen for our top 3 to receive an awesome badge created by our own Renate' for their blog

Click here to see the challenge details and link up!

**For a list of qualifying stamps please check the Challenge info page.  We have a lot to choose from.**

Happy Holidays & Mahalo for stopping by!!

Welcome Wednesday!

Hey all!  It's MelissaO here, December's guest designer.  First I want to share that I am so thrilled to be here this month sharing Yumi & Fumi images.  I absolutely love them as well as Sister Stamps.  My stamp collection just continues to grow (I want them all)!

I used Fumi with Messenger Bag and decided to give her a few freckles to go with her red hair. I just love her sassy little pose!  I am a bit of a pink freak so naturally there is a lot of pink and I paper pieced her skirt.

Copic Markers:
R39, RV66, RV69, RV09, RV19, E000, E00, E11, Y21, R39, E09, E07, E08

I'm also sharing my card using Winter Chuckles.  I have to admit that when I first saw this stamp it made me chuckle.  That reindeer hat is just too dang cute!  You may have seen my card on Yumi and Fumi FB page but I wanted to share him here as well.

Copic Markers:
B60, B63, B69, E00, E11, E13, E42, E15, E23, E28, E29, E25, E17, R27, C1, C5, G61, G63, G67, G82

Remember to join the December #7 Challenge and you can choose to use the challenge colors, challenge sketch, or both!  This is a month long challenge so plenty of time for you to play along.

See you next Wednesday.  Happy Crafting!

December Guest Designer - Melissa Oeters

Good morning and Happy Aloha Friday!!

Did you get a chance to purchase any of the stamps from the Winter 2012 release yet?  If not, head on over to the store before we run out.  Which one is/are your favorite(s)?  I truly do not have a favorite as I love them all, but if you were to ask me which one would I choose to ink up right this minute I'd probably say Bob the Yeti.  He's the kind of character that you can have so much fun with, and he doesn't require a lot of coloring. If you missed seeing the Winter 2012 release post please check it out here.

Can you believe today is the last day of November?  Can anybody tell me where did the time go?  I can barely remember October and November seems like such a blur to me.  Unfortunately as it is the end of the month it is also time to say Mahalo and see ya later to our November Guest Designer, Kathy Dinh of Pixie Boutique.  I would like to take this opportunity to send a big cyber hug to Kathy for helping us out for both October and November guest spots.  Thank you so much Kathy, you were a fantastic inspiration for the past two months and we really appreciated you stepping up for the challenge.  Wishing you all the best and we'll be seeing ya.  Everyone please make sure to stop by Kathy's blog and leave her some love.

December is a time for those of us on the Y&FH team to step back and take a break.  Be with family, finish the Christmas shopping and of course get those holiday projects completed.  As the team is taking a break we needed someone to step in and help us with December and I think we've chosen the right person for the job.  Please help me say a big Aloha to Melissa Oeters of Needful Things

Melissa has been a huge supporter of Yumi & Fumi Handmade from the very beginning and we are very excited to have her join us as our December Guest.   Here is a little bit more about Melissa:
Hi, I'm MelissaO and I'm so excited to be a guest designer for December.  I live in a very rural area of Illinois, population 800,  with my wonderful hubby and our 4 fabulous kids.  I have been into paper arts for many years now, since my oldest was born 18 years ago, and the last couple of years I've become totally crazy about stamping and coloring.  When the kids are in school I can be found in my art room crafting away surrounded by our dogs and chocolate.  My other interests include riding horses, dog rescue, reading and craft supply hoarding!   I hope I can inspire you with my Yumi and Fumi creations!

Speaking of inspiration, here is a fun card Melissa created using Fumi with Messenger bag.  She submitted this card by playing in one of our bi-weekly challenges:

How adorable is this?  Way!!!  I love the contrast in colors with the black accents and those tickets are pretty cool!  The perfect card to slip into a little girl's lunch pail or book bag.  Fumi looks so cute, love her socks!!  Great job Melissa!!  Stop by her blog Needful Things when you get a chance and leave her some love.

For fun, I asked Melissa to fill out our DT Survey.  You can find the her answers in the DT Survey page up top.

Stop back tomorrow when Melissa will be sharing her first official post! Woo Hoo!!  It's super cute!!

Reminders:
  • Winter 2012 release is in the store now.
  • December 1st: November challenge (Ribbon or Lace) ends tomorrow, link up your creations here.
  • December 1st: Sister Stamps Release #10 in the store tomorrow.
  • December 2nd:  Start of another month long challenge, check back on Sunday for all the details and inspirations.
Mahalo for stopping by!!!  Happy Aloha Friday, have an awesome day!!

Leanne

.:Thank You:.

Hello There!

Kathy here, and I'm popping in to share my last post with you.
It's been a wonderful experience being the guest for October/November and working with the ladies from Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  You all have amazing talent and always continue to inspire!  There's no other perfect way to say goodbye as a guest than with a "Thank You" card. I used Yumi & Fumi for this card from their first official line debut with a fall Thanksgiving theme.

Here's another view of the card showing off the glittery accents...

My...how times flies and how far they have come!! I just want to say best wishes and keep up the fabulous work here. Thanks again for letting me be apart of your journey! For those of you who are new here...they have some cute stamps going on especially with the NEW 2012 WINTER RELEASE so don't miss out and stay tune for more to come =)

Yumi & Fumi Handmade 2012 Winter Release

Thanks to those of you who supported our Small Business weekend!!  We would like to thank you for your purchase and to our international friends, we appreciate your patience while we figured out the shipping costs.  We've since updated the website and you should have no problems now. :)

Hello everyone!!
(Sorry this is late, was having some technical difficulties with Blogger!)
Welcome to release day at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  We're excited to be able to share our 2012 Winter images with you!  Make sure you read all the way through, you don't want to miss out on anything.

When we came up with this series we wanted to do something fun.  Creating a character like Bob the Yeti and having him decorated with Christmas lights was fun and so were Yeti Yumi & Yeti Fumi as his decorators.  When we came up with the outfits we went to the internet for inspiration.  The same can be said of both Winter Yumi and Winter Fumi.  And our last new character in the series, Winter Chuckles named after my cousin Chuck, was so fun to visualize and create.  Amy did a wonderful job with this series and we hope you feel the same.  As with all of our other stamps, these stamps are made of deeply etched red rubber onto cling mount, scroll cut, indexed and beautifully packaged individually.  All are made in the USA.

I could go on and on about how cute and cuddly this series is but why don't I let our designers and guest designers show you with their creations instead?  As with our previews we are very fortunate to have a few crafty friends help us out.  Sit back and enjoy the rest of the post and don't be surprised if you end up with some ideas to create your own holiday projects.  I would be so appreciative if you would stop by their blogs and leave them some well-deserved LOVE. Just click on their names and you'll be directed to their blogs.  You might also see some creations from our preview, I thought they deserved a second view as they were all beautiful.

First up, let's meet who I like to call our "Winter" crew.  Only because "Winter" is in part of their name.  There are 3 characters in the "Winter" crew.  Yumi & Fumi are back and we are excited to introduce one of two new characters.  His name is Winter Chuckles and he was created with a very special guy in mind.  Chuckles is the nickname of my cousin Chuck.  He's always got a smile on his face that is very infectious and all you want to do is hug him.  He's the epitome of kindness and embodies the Aloha spirit.  Once you meet him you'll want to be around him all the time.  Renate, Sandie & Rosemary have been very fortunate to meet him and they just love this guy as much as I do.  We think Amy did a wonderful job with his likeness!

The second character in our Winter group is actually Ms. Winter herself.  Now if most of you didn't know Winter happens to be Renate's last name and we all know that Yumi is her middle name so this was kizmit for us when we named her.  Here she is in her fabulous outfit looking fierce!!

The last character from the "Winter" crew is Winter Fumi. Yes that is Fumi who you probably didn't recognize because of her hair right?  This time around she's got her hair down instead of up in her signature pom-poms.  Hey it can get pretty chilly in the winter so she needs her long locks to help her keep warm.

Are you still with me?  Hope so cause we aren't done!!  {hahaha}
Now I'd like to introduce you to who I like to call our "Yeti" crew and yes, it's because "Yeti" is part of their name.  There are 3 "Yeti" characters, Yeti Yumi, Yeti Fumi and Bob the Yeti.  Each will be sold separately, but the cool thing is they can be used together or as singles.  Yeti Yumi is up first.  She's got the cutest fuzzy outfit that keeps her warm and toasty.  Her accessories consist of fuzzy legwarmers and a string of Christmas lights; now all she needs is something to decorate...

Yeti Fumi is up next and she's bundled up in her cute hooded jacket also ready to decorate with her string of lights.  Now what mischief do these two have up their sleeves?

Ready to meet our second newest character and the last in our "Yeti" group?  His name is Bob the Yeti and he's cute, cuddly and very patient.  You'd have to be with Yumi and Fumi around and uh oh, looks like they found a target for their decorating project.  He doesn't seem to mind being their guinea pig, he actually looks pleased with his decorations if his glowing smile is any indication.
A few things to note: he's a a lot bigger than any of our other stamps at a whopping 3.9" tall with a "hug" span of 4.25"!  Now when we first previewed him he was just Yeti, but we thought since everyone else has a name why not give him one?
Please say hello to the newly dubbed Bob the Yeti

Isn't he just the cuddliest?  {hehe}
And last I had to reshare Eva's wonderful holiday cards with the "Yeti" crew:
And there you have it friends, wasn't that fun?!  I can't express how Thankful I am to our designers and guests Danni, Cyndi & Carisa.  Also Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy holiday schedules to help us with this release as well as the previews.  Their creations put me in the holiday mood and I hope you all caught their spirit!!
Now if you've gone through to the end hooray!!  Thank you for reading all the way through!!
